Company claims patent and trademark infringement related to supplies technologies
MINNETONKA, Minn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Datacard Group, the world leader in secure ID and card personalization solutions announced today that it filed a patent and trademark infringement lawsuit in the UK against Eagle Technologies, LTD (“Eagle”).
A critical element of all issuance programs is ensuring the right choice of supplies. Datacard® Certified Supplies have a proven track record and have been used to successfully produce billions of cards and millions of passports worldwide. This heritage is the result of Datacard’s careful design and rigorous testing of its proprietary supplies, which ensures seamless compatibility, optimized output quality, minimal downtime and helps Datacard’s customers minimize their operational risk.
Datacard Group’s lawsuit contends that Eagle sells supplies that infringe on Datacard Group’s intellectual property rights.
“We take our intellectual property rights very seriously,” said Russell St. John, senior vice president of global marketing for Datacard Group. “Datacard has a 40 year history of heavily investing in industry-defining technologies, including our supplies. This commitment to innovation has resulted in hundreds of patents for our systems and supplies, so it should come as no surprise that we are determined to protect our intellectual property, and will not hesitate to take legal action to vigorously defend our rights when necessary.”
