Datacard Group, the world leader in secure ID and card personalization solutions is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2009, and plans to cap the festivities at one of the industry’s premier exhibitions, Cartes 2009.
Datacard was founded in 1969 by Willis Drake. Drake recognized that credit card commerce was on the verge of explosive growth but was being limited by the logistics of personalizing the card. His expertise in computing and printing technologies told him that it was possible to make machine readable cards in a mass production environment. From this idea Datacard was born.
In 1970 Datacard created the world’s first high speed credit card personalization system, capable of speeds up to 1500 cards per hour. This invention helped to usher in the modern era of credit card commerce.
Datacard Group has since followed with hundreds of innovations to serve the needs of its customers – desktop card printing, smart card production, delivery and fulfillment, laser personalization, security, modularity, color technologies and many others.
“Since the early days, Datacard Group has worked with the world’s leading financial institutions, retail organizations and government officials to develop solutions for the issues they face every day,” said Russell St. John, Sr. Vice President of Global Marketing for Datacard Group. “Our commitment to customer success remains unchanged today, and we are pleased to share this celebration with our customers, partners and colleagues at Cartes 2009.”
Datacard Group can be found at Cartes on stand number 3F041, in hall 3 of the Paris Nord Villepointe Exhibition Centre, from November 17 - 19.
