Training magazine, the primary business publication for learning and development professionals, has again named BÖWE BELL + HOWELL (BBH) to its annual “Top 125” list for excellence in corporate training and development programs. This is the eighth year BBH University (BBHU) has earned the designation. BBHU executives will join other leading organizations such as IBM, Ritz-Carlton, EMC and PricewaterhouseCoopers at the annual awards presentation in San Diego on Feb. 1, 2010, when the rankings will be announced.
Training magazine establishes stringent criteria by which employee training programs are measured, and carefully evaluates the nationwide pool of candidates to determine placement in the rankings. The criteria include qualitative and quantitative data, including investment in employee development, the scope of the development efforts, and how closely such development efforts are linked to business goals and objectives.
“We are honored to be recognized once again for this achievement,” said John Tarascio, president of BBH Services. “BBH University has a well-defined curriculum that is closely aligned with customer and industry needs, and is focused on delivering tangible results. Program validation by the experts in training reinforces our longstanding commitment to what we believe is a winning education strategy for customers and associates alike.”
“We work hard to ensure that our associates have the technical, organizational, management and communications skills they need to be successful in every customer interaction,” said Lana Chandra, BBH’s executive director of organizational development and BBH University. “Our goal is to establish a linkage between training/development and performance measurement results that impact the bottom line and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of an organization. We view training as a value-added function that supports business strategies and enables organizational growth.”
BBH University is located in the company’s operations headquarters in Durham, N.C. Classroom programs include hands-on technical training, and leadership and management skills development. BBHU provides customer training to increase the efficiency and productivity of their operations. The development and training programs offered by BBHU provide the leadership skills required to effectively manage people, processes and systems in today’s production mail environment.
In 2009, BBHU provided technical, business, leadership and management skills training and career development for more than 1,000 associates throughout North America.
