In order to fully utilize the advantages of the ES1686dc dual-active controller architecture, it is recommended that users can create multiple storage pools and evenly distribute the storage pools to two controllers, so that the advantages of dual-active controller architecture load balancing can be realized.

Active-Standby single-ended backup architecture
A high-availability system requires twice the cost of the system and hard drive. The data load is also handled only on Active systems, resulting in unbalanced system load. In addition to the risk of loss of power outage data, network disconnection will also invalidate the highly available architecture.

Active-Active Dual Active Controller Architecture
There is no need to buy two systems at twice the cost. Both ES1686dc controllers provide data access services with C2F (Copy-To-Flash) and dual-path SAS interfaces with power-down data protection. In addition to not wasting valuable computing resources, it can also provide high-speed, high-availability storage services through SMB, NFS, iSCSI and other communication protocols.
