Client PC: Intel® Core™ i7-6700 3.40GHz CPU; 64GB RAM; MLX CX3 10GbE NIC; Windows® 10 64-bit; IOmeter 1.1.0 20 workers 1 outstanding, SMB throughput, 64KB, 30S ramp up time, 3M run time.

Hybrid structure for enabling SSD and tiered storage

The TS-977XU features an HDD+ SSD hybrid structure (including five 2.5-inch and four 3.5-inch drive bays*), allowing you to leverage the benefits of both hard drives and SSD to provide high storage capacity and high performance. Qtier™ Technology empowers the TS-977XU with automatic tiering that continuously optimizes storage utilization across high-performance SSD and high-capacity hard drives. The new Qtier™ 2.0 features IO-awareness that empowers SSD-tiered storage with a cache-like reserved space to handle burst I/O in real time, greatly maximizing the advantages of SSD.
*SSDs and HDDs sold separately.

Dual-channel Memory to deliver power-smart performance

The TS-977XU supports dual-channel DDR4 memory and features four Long-DIMM slots. When using paired memory modules, the TS-977XU leverages the power of dual-channel architecture to boost performance. You can also customize the memory configuration (supports up to 64GB RAM) of the TS-977XU, making it the most ideal and cost-efficient storage solution for environments like virtualization that contain dynamically-changing workloads.

Extend NAS functionality with PCIe slots

The TS-977XU features a PCIe slot that allows for installing a 10GbE/40GbE network card, a QM2 M.2 SSD/10GbE PCIe card, or a wireless network card to provide greater application potential.

10GbE/ 40GbE adapters
Install 10GbE/40GbE adapters to support lightning-fast throughput for bandwidth-demanding tasks such as virtualization and fast backup/restoration for an ever-growing amount of data.
* Slot 3 provides the width of PCIe Gen.3 x8 when slot 4 is not in use. Slot 3 then provides the width of PCIe Gen.3 x4 only when an expansion board is installed in slot 4.
QM2 card with M.2 SSD/10GbE support
Install QNAP's innovative QM2 card to add M.2 SSD caching or 10GbE (10GBASE-T) connectivity to the NAS to enjoy optimal performance.
Wireless network cards
Install QNAP's wireless network card (QWA-AC2600) to work with WirelessAP Station to transform the NAS into a convenient wireless base station, allowing network resources of the NAS to be shared with multiple devices.

Install a graphics card for GPU-accelerated computing

Graphics cards are optimized for graphical calculations and transformations, but require significantly more power than other hardware. The TS-977XU provides a 250 watt power supply and a PCIe slot that supports low-profile AMD Radeon™ or NVIDIA® GeForce® graphics cards that do not require additional power. Installing a graphics card can boost performance of applications such as video editing, 4K video transcoding, imaging processing in QTS and the performance of virtual machines via GPU passthrough.
NOTE:
1. Supported video formats depend on the hardware and software specifications of the devices. Playback capability and quality may vary due to factors including the original file formats/quality, hardware and software limitations, and output devices.
2. GPU support for QTS only applies to NVIDIA graphics cards. GPU Passthrough for VM is supported by AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards.
3. When Virtualization Station uses graphics cards, the NAS will temporarily stop hardware transcoding acceleration for QTS (and vice versa).
4. The TS-977XU supports graphics cards with dimensions (L × W × H) up to 257 x 19 x 68.9 mm.
5. Consult the Compatibility List for information on supported NAS and graphics cards.
