Kodak's Release Of New Series Scanner i4000
Tuesday, 04 May 2010 00:00

Kodak currently have two Series Scanner models - i4200 and i4600 which were designed to help end users, specifically those in small-to-medium sized businesses (SMBs), these Series Scanners served to automate document capture and management cost-effectively.   However, Kodak have recently announced the introduction of a new capture platform the Series Scanner i4000, this walk up easy to use scanner with its comprehensive software capabilities and one touch scanning, allows easy integration with existing document management processes  for a complete solution for information management.

Debra Logan, a distinguished analyst and Vice President of Gartner, Inc stated “Over the next two years, business demand for IT-driven growth and innovation will outstrip the supply of qualified people to fulfil job roles, and as a result, traditional IT tasks are moving outside the IT department”.

The new Series Scanner i4000 comes with Smart Touch functionality, this added feature allows the end user to send a variety of digital documents to common destinations including e-mail, shared file locations, desktop applications and the Microsoft Sharepoint Server.  The design of the new Series Scanner i4000 in addition to being more compact and ergonomic, provides the end user with flexible, dual-support for Kodak’s Perfect Page Image Processing Technology or KOFAX VRS Software.  All these additional benefits make it easier for the average end user to integrate the i4000 into new and existing information-driven business processes.

As a user looking for a true production-level entry point Series Scanner, Kodak have two scanners that fit this description, being the i4200 and i4600.  These models are able to process images of 200 dots per inch (dpi) bi-tonal scanning quality at rated speeds of 100 pages per minute (ppm) and 120 ppm, respectively.

However, the newly released Kodak i4000 Series Scanner is now the smallest scanner in its class to offer a c-shape transport with additional straight-through paper path, 500-sheet feeder.  Additionally the i4000 Series Scanner is the only scanner in its class to allow field speed and feature upgrades to adjust for growing volumes of documents and continuous enhancement of the solution.
